Hon. Elizaldy S. Co

Representative Elizaldy “Zaldy” S. Co is the first nominee of AKO BICOL Party-list in the 2019 elections. A natural born Bicolano, Rep. Co’s major advocacies include the provision of sustainable watersources and renewable energy. Aside from lending a hand during calamities, his main philanthropic pursuit is to provide clean, potable water in Bicol’s upland barangays starting with his water project in Mariawa, Legazpi City. A known Bicolano businessman prior to his stint in Congress, Rep. Co was cited for transforming calamity stricken Albay into a major global tourism destination. While at the forefront of eco-tourism, real estate, information technology, leisure hotels and renewable energy projects in Albay, he was nominated as one of the Ten Outstanding Young Men in the Philippines. In the field of sustainable tourism, he committed to uphold the Global Code of Ethics for Tourism by the United Nations World Tourism Organization.

The late DOT Secretary Ramon Jimenez and UN World Tourism Organization Secretary-General Dr. Taleb Rifai witnessed the signing of this covenant in May 2014 in Legazpi City. In business circles, Rep. Co is the founder of well-known construction, real estate, leisure, and energy companies. He was also former President of Mayon Builders Association, the Philippine Contractors Association, a member of Rotary Club West of Legazpi and Junior Chamber International Legazpi. From 2018 to 2019, he was a director of the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority. In 2014 he was recognized by the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and Banco De Oro Unibank (BDO) as he led one of the best local companies engaged in renewable energy projects during the Energy Smart Philippines awards organized by the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP).

The solon was also a three-time HAYLAO awardee and was cited for spearheading relief and rehabilitation efforts to help fellow Filipinos in the aftermath of many typhoons that regularly hit the country. Rep. Co holds a Bachelor of Computer Engineering degree from AMA University in 1992 and obtained his Post Graduate of Business Administration degree from Aquinas University in 1998. He finished his secondary education at St. Gregory the Great Seminary in 1986.
