Ako Bicol helps stranded Bicolano construction workers return home

Ako Bicol (AKB) party-list helped 36 Bicolano construction workers to return home to Sorsogon after being stranded in Quezon province due to the government-imposed enhanced community quarantine.

Stranded for weeks, the workers lost their jobs after their employer was forced to close down the construction firm in Pagbilao, Quezon amidst the pandemic. The workers pleaded for help to return home since the assistance provided by the construction company is not enough.

AKB Rep. Elizaldy Co personally visited and provided relief goods and financial assistance to the workers. He also coordinated with Sorsogon Governor Chiz Escudero to facilitate their transfer in compliance with strict protocols laid down by the Department of Health and concerned local government units.

Rep. Co said Ako Bicol is always committed to serve Bicolanos. Within its limited means, the group aims to lighten the burden of affected Bicolanos in these trying times. The party-list, he added, is duty-bound to provide people with immediate and proactive response, while ensuring that no one is left behind.
