Bicol University is now looking forward to the construction of the 321M Convention and Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Center after confirmation that initial funds amounting to 200M has been secured under the 2018 National Expenditure Program through the efforts of Ako Bicol Partylist Representative Rodel M. Batocabe.
Bicol University President Arnulfo Mascariñas expressed his sincere thanks to Ako Bicol’s efforts with acknowledgement of the great contribution the facility will have in future academic, aesthetic and cultural development of students and stakeholders in the premier state university.
“Thank you for believing in the capability of this University in delivering quality education.” Mascariñas said. “Thank you for your unwavering support to Bicol University.”
Ako Bicol on their part is happy and excited to see the fruits of their labor take actual physical form.
“This is a great milestone not only for Bicol University but the Bicol Region itself.” Rep. Batocabe said. “We are honoured to have a part in the realization of a project that shall duly strengthen and develop further the capability and readiness of the Bicolano in disaster risk-reduction and adaptation.”
“From the initial talks that brought about its conception up to several months of relentless and zealous lobbying with various government agencies, we are grateful that all our mutual efforts has resulted into this success.” Batocabe added.
The project is under the Department of Public Works and Highways’s National Building Program and is expected to begin construction by January 2018.
