Ako Bicol Party List Rep. Alfredo Garbin Jr. joined the 2nd Regional Health Summit for PWD held last July 18-19 at Macagang Resorts and Hotel, Nabua, Camarines Sur.
Being true to its mandate to represent Bicolanos as well as the marginalized sectors, Ako Bicol Party List principally-authored House Bill 524, otherwise known as the “Mandatory PhilHealth Coverage for All PWDs Act”, which was included in its priority legislative measures in the 17th Congress, and the same was approved by the Committee on Social Services last May 22, 2017.
In a message, Rep. Garbin said “Ako Bicol Party List has always been a strong advocate of human rights especially of the marginalized sectors, which include those of the differently abled members of the society, who experience abuse and discrimination even in the most unexpected circumstances”. “We have to continue creating avenues that will encourage more PWDs to become more productive by way of programs and trainings to increase their employability, creating a safe and supportive environment of their special needs, and giving them an equal chance towards a bright future”, he added.
This is yet another milestone as we continue to fight for equal rights and people empowerment!
