AKO BICOL Party List Rep. Rodel M. Batocabe personally facilitated a dialogue with Catholic Educational Association of Legazpi (CEAL) officers and other parent-leaders from across the province to discuss about the current government programs in education, and how to extend these to the private education institutions in the entire country.

As discussed in the dialogue, the exodus of teachers, from public schools to private institutions, poses a threat to the educational system in the country, compromising the quality of education at both sides. While we are supportive of the current programs lobbying for better salary scheme and additional benefits for the public school teachers, we also recognize that it will affect the quality of education in the private schools, since most of their teachers would eventually transfer to private schools for a greener pasteur, hence, an assistance in a form of subsidy must also be provided to private schools.

Rep. Batocabe promised to continue advocating for special education fund and faculty development program, and to prioritize a bill that will seek to expand the authority of the Local Government Units to also provide subsidy to private institutions that need government assistance to sustain their operation and the quality of education they provide.
